Mike Magnum's Restructured MLS/North America _
PostSubject: Mike Magnum's Restructured MLS/North America   Mike Magnum's Restructured MLS/North America Icon_minitime2011-01-12, 14:19

This is a re-imagined version of the MLS with...well...extra. I probably
been working on this for about a month, and finally feel it's time to
release into the wild so other people can enjoy.

Background Info: The MLS is weird, and needs to conform to the rest of
the world a bit. I personally feel the financial restrain (MLS level)
shown today is sometimes too much. The designated players/the draft/etc.
It's too much. What I changed here is the money, no more draft, no
weird player restrictions, added a promotion/relegation system...and
many more. I guess I'll start listing the pyramid and the leagues that
are there, and just work my way down explaining what's there...

Level 1 - MLS - 20 teams (1 team relegated)
Level 2 - American Second Division - 20 teams (1 team promoted/1 team relegated)
Level 3 - American Third Division - 24 teams (1 team promoted)

Level 4 - North American Independent Soccer League (no promotion)(9 leagues divided up into regions)
- Canadian Soccer League (16 teams)
- Puerto Rico Soccer League (9 teams)
- Northwest Coast League (8 teams)
- Texas Soccer League (9 teams)
- All-American Soccer Conference (16 teams)
- Northeastern Soccer Alliance (6 teams)
- Colonial Soccer Federation (11 teams)
- Gold Coast Soccer League (16 teams)
- Florida Coast Soccer League (9 teams)

Cups
FA Cup – North American Memorial Cup (All Teams)
MLS Shield - Super Cup of winners of MLS/Memorial Cup
North American Independent League Cup (Independent Teams)
NA Independent League Shield - super cup of winners of NAIL/Independent Cup
US Open Cup (MLS Reserve Teams, Second/Third Division First Teams)
Canadian Open Cup (All Canadian Teams)
Givova Cup - Super Cup of winners of Canadian Soccer League/Canadian Open Cup
Puerto Rico Cup (All PR Teams)
PR Shield – super cup of winners PRSL/PR Cup
21 Various Rivalry Cups
Islands Invitational Cup (All Island Teams included+16 of some of the better Caribbean Clubs)
Texas Cup (top reserve squads+TSL)
California Cup (top reserve squads+GCSL)

League Rules
-Season runs parallel with Winter Europe Leagues.
-Squad size of 30
-Minimum of 8 players trained in nation from 15-21yrs

MLS
-20 teams play each other once, League Splits into top 10/bottom 10, Teams in split sections play each other once.
-Top 4 Teams enter 2 Legged Play-offs
-Franchises Added (Montreal, Portland, Vancouver, New York Cosmos)
-All Rosters up to date.

ASD
-Same as MLS with structure, with 1 team relegated
-Added Several Different Franchises (combo of current division two teams)
-FC San Antonio
-Arizona Franchise
-New Orleans Franchise
-Orlando City SC (formerly Austin Aztex)
-others

ATD
-Same as others except with 24 teams, and league split at 12
-Includes some Island Teams
-Antigua Barracuda FC
-River Plate(PR)
-Sevilla FC(PR)
-Jamaican Franchise
-Bermuda Hogges

Too much to mention here with these 3 leagues so I’ll turn it into quick notes
-All Stadiums, Future Stadiums (some made up, some real), some teams have debts to pay for those stadiums, all kits done.
-Cosmos should be expected to be a powerhouse once again. (Took some
liberties here to make it interesting) Nicolas Anelka has decided to
come to the US and become the first signing of the Cosmos, with Zlatan
Ibrahimovic following him in the next season…other than that it’s up to
you use that capital to build a dynasty(don’t disappoint Pelé)
-Orlando City SC is penalized 15 points for the next 3 seasons for their shady move from Austin, TX
-A.C. St. Louis is broke, and in debt, and the Chairman is looking to
sell. After releasing all contracts, and only managing to get 2 hometown
players back for the new league setup, can they maintain while new
owners are found?
-FC Baltimore is the new rebranded version of CP Baltimore, new stadium
on the way, with no contracts on the table, and with shaky finances. Be
sure to build wisely.
-TV revenue reflects a more soccer friendly America
-Most major city teams in the top 2 leagues have alternate Cup stadiums to maximize attendance.

Independent Leagues
In the spirit of most American professional sports, these are the copy
cat leagues. These leagues are sitting at a level of play between the
Second and Third Division. These teams can snag some players away from
the bigger clubs, as well as hold steady in any competition.

-No promotion/relegation
-League rules vary
-League Champions (9) enter into 2 legged Championship Play-off
-All kits/Stadiums added (all real)
-Miami Fusion and Tampa Bay Mutiny names have been purchased and reborn in the Florida Coast League.
-Some teams specialize as Youth Academies
-Heated regional rivalries should keep things fresh.
-Most teams are made up of altered Developmental teams/Re-born Franchises (creative liberties were taken lol)

Cups
-North American Memorial Cup features two group phases, with knockout
rounds in between, and for the final 64 teams (hi, march madness).
-Rivalry Cups are one game cups, made up of existing derbies (California
Classico, Brimstone Cup, etc.), new rivalries/old rivalries. These
games are usually scheduled Second week of play, Thanksgiving/Xmas)

Reserves/Youth Leagues
-custom regional divisions
-independent teams do not participate
-regional boundaries were done as best I could. Got to a point where I
didn’t care anymore about 1 or 2 teams jumping around, which is all it
is(needs to be lock feature of some sort for these reserve/youth league
divisions)

Recommendations
-Most teams minus the created franchises (very few) have logos created,
and are available out there(the one I used is on here somewhere)
-Play with Mexico/and some Top euro leagues (it helps fill the teams with available transfers)
-everything ticked except the Add players to playable teams (unless you
want a ton of fake players! More fun to build through free transfers I
say)(attribute masking is of course your choice)
-Starting in Mexico will give you something like 10 extra days to get your squad built.

In Closing…
There is a lot of stuff here that I’m probably failing to mention here
just because I’ve changed so many things. All leagues have been tested
extensively…for the most part, and everything works. There are a lot of
different challenges set up here depending what team you pick. Each team
feels like its own animal (I’m absolutely torn on where to start!). I
would love to hear some feedback on what can be improved or changed,
even any problems that need to be fixed. Any questions at all, I’ll
answer them to the best of my ability. I hope you guys enjoy this, I
know I will.

Update 1.01, 1/13/2011

Changes Made:
-MLS Scouting Issue Fixed
-San Antonio FC has been renamed to reflect its newly given name “San Antonio Scorpions FC”
-Added real Chairmen to San Antonio, to stop them from being sold at the start.
-Changed Baltimore Franchise colors to Red, Black, Yellow(deemed to be the new colors part of their rebranding)
-Miami FC has been renamed to reflect its new name change to “Miami Strikers”
-All Non Playable Island Cup Teams now have home stadiums, and kits.
-Alt. Memorial Cup Stadiums added for
-Indiana – Lucas Oil Stadium
-Cincinnati – Paul Brown Stadium
-Nashville – LP Field
-MLS Rosters Updated
-Edson Buddle to Ingolstadt
-Didier Domi to New England from olympiakios
-others
-Fixed some lower level Rivalries
-Second and Third Divisions renamed to match the naming of the real life Second(NASL) and Third(USL-PRO) divisions.

That’s all for the changes this week, I’ll be sure to keep updating the
rosters, maybe adding some of the new home grown signees that have
happened recently(like 4 of them), maybe adding the Drafted players from
the upcoming MLS Draft as well.

Is anybody interested in filling in the gaps Graphics wise? Using the
new version of the Metallic Logos, there are only a handful of teams,
and a majority of the cups to fill. I have already started copying and
pasting all logos that I have for this db into its own separate folder
if anyone wants to work on it, let me know.

Teams that need logos
Barricudas FC(exists)
Orlando City SC(exists)
San Antonio
Baltimore
Brantford galaxy fc(exists)
Hamilton Croatia(exists)
Milltown FC(exists)
Mayaguez FC(exists)
FC Buffalo(exists)
New Vibes(island cup team)
Hairoun Stars(island cup team)

All cups need logos except:
MLS, Canadian Soccer League, US open cup, NACL, Superliga

Heres the update
