As always, Football Manager has a file that prevents you from
managing the German national term and also from current German players
showing up in the national team,

This also applies to the Japanese national
team.

Fixing this is relatively simple, but it will only apply to new games after you make these changes.

Find this in your system.

Windows
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\db\1200\lnc\all

Mac
[username]>library>Application
support>Steam>steamapps>common>football manager
2012>data>db>1200>lnc>all

Here you will find 3 or more files:

• fake.lnc
  
• lic_dan_swe_fra.lnc
  
• nleague.lnc.
  

To unlock the German national team delete the fake.Inc file
before you create a new game.

I always delete the other files in this folder as well as it makes other restrictions that you may not want to have in your game.

Important:- Every time there is an official update it will put these files back in, so remember to keep deleting them in the future.

Example if your FM12 gets updated to 12.02 version go
to > Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\football manager 2012\data\updates\update-1202\db\1210\lnc\all

And then follow the same instructions for deleting those files.

If you get lost in the instructions you can just search your computer for those three files and remove them

Worth noting that you can edit the fake inc using word pad and you just change the number to turn the Germany side on and off and you can also change Oliver Khan to make him have the right name.

I believe doing it this way Posh you never have to change it again once the new updates are made

Nope, the updates override it with the new version of the file

Oh really I did it this way and have never had to change it back

Just tried it and it didn't work that way. There is a new fake file loaded up in each patch/update that seems to override the original.

I got the real name file from off here as well so far so good but not sure if there has been a update recently

what year was it that germany and japan had players in their national squad? i remember when i showed someone this for 11 and he was like 'wow thank you at last i can be germany my saviour' part of me wanted to say well if i am can always reward me with money! lol

Yes there was an update just a couple of days ago. All hard copy updates, no database updates on it.
